Once you take our clown classes/finish your clowning lessons, you can "audition" to recieve booking referrals (yes, paid "gigs"!) from Classy Clowns (our performing company) and various other clowns in Houston!
"Emerald" the clown and "Sparkles" the clown, our main instructors, have been clowning for over 12 years before opening their Classy Clown's Houston Clown School and offering clown classes. They have performed for schools, churches, corporations, malls, birthdays, politicians, nonprofit organizations, and more. Their performing business, Classy Clowns, is always looking for new Houston clowns and love to hire the students they teach.
Instruction varies from classes and workshops to private lessons. We can provide custom or industry-specific workshops like: Clowning for Teachers, Balloon Animals for Dentists and Doctors, and other specialized classes. Both Emerald and Sparkles are degreed-professionals who not only understand clowning but dealing with children (Sparkles was a teacher and health care provider working with special needs children), effective teaching (Esmeralda teaches college and runs an educational organization) , and managing a successful business (Esmeralda was formerly the CEO of a Small Business Development Center).

Are there any other clown schools in Houston?
Yes, there are other clown schools in Houston, including some who are world-renowned. But, many programs are unaffordable, don't offer individual instruction and don't hire their own students to perform upon completion.
How long does it take to finish the clowning lessons?
That depends on alot of factors. Fast learners can finish their clowning lessons within a week, others take longer depending on their learning pace and how much time they have to invest in practice.
Why did you start teaching clowning?
We have been teaching clowning for over 20 years starting with Sparkle's volunteer work with Girl Scouts in the 80's. We began again when we needed to hire clowns for our business & decided to train our own.
Can you make money clowning?
Many people do! You can work full-time with a performing company like Barnum Baliey. We know one clown that works full time for a dental chain. Others, like our owners, use this as a great sideline or retirement income business. Clowns doing birthday parties can make from $85-150 per hour!
